This facility can be availed within six months from the adoption date and will be admissible to those having less than two surviving children, a government release said here today.
A proposal to this effect has been approved by Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Haryana Finance Minister Capt Ajay Singh Yadav said in the release.

Yadav pointed out that if not availed, the leave (admissible only in case of adoption) will lapse. The child adoption leave cannot be clubbed with any other facility, he added.
The Haryana government has already sanctioned 180 days' maternity leave, 730 days' child care leave and 180 days' child adoption leave to its female employees.

Yadav said the state government employees had demanded that a 15-day paternity leave be given to them on the pattern of Government of India employees.

There is already a provision that a male Central government employee with less than two surviving children, on valid adoption of a child below the age of one year, is eligible for 15 days' paternity leave within six months from the date of adoption, he added.
