"There is no necessity for the Deputy Chief Minister's post. Yeddyurappa is the undisputed leader in the Government", the Ministers said. Stating that no discussion had taken place with BJP's central leaders and State leaders about the creation of the Deputy Chief Minister's post, they said they would strongly oppose such a proposal.

The party fought Assembly,Lok Sabha and Assembly bye-elections successfully under Yeddyurappa's leadership. The question of creating the Deputy Chief Minister's post does not arise in the present context, they said.

Renukacharya said the creation of the Deputy Chief Ministers' post was only a "rumour" and there was no substance in it. Others present at the joint press conference were  Textiles and Sports Minister Gulihatti Shekhar, Sericulture Minister Venkataramanappa, Public Libararies and Mass Education Minister Shivanagouda Naik and Gopalakrishna Belur,MLA.

Venkataramanappa also echoed the same view and said so far no discussion had taken place in this regard. Yesterday in Gulbarga, Yeddyurappa said no one in his cabinet had approached him to reshuffle the ministry and to appoint a Deputy Chief Minister.
