Vidyashankar will return back to the State service. Suranjana is presently principal secretary to Higher Education Department.
A 1977 Indian Administrative Service batch officer, Suranjana has been chosen by the Election Commission of India to occupy the present post.
The State Government has received the notification from Election of Commission of India in this regard, and it will in turn shortly issue an order appointing Suranjana as the Chief Electoral Officer for Karnataka, official sources said.
M N Vidyashankar, who was earlier IT and BT secretary, wanted to return to the State service and had even requested the Government to take him back.
