Tribals' demand will be met in phased manner: DC

Speaking at the Tribals and Traditional Forest Dwellers meet at DC’s office on Wednesday, he said a survey was conducted on the individual land holders. Similarly, a survey on community land holdings will be conducted and title deeds will be distributed to the traditional forest dwellers.

He said individual land holders should not put a trench or fence around their land. Measures will be taken in such a way that no inconvenience will be caused to the tribals. He also assured to visit Girijana haadi in the district soon. If the problems faced by the tribals are not solved, then another meeting will be convened, he said and added that district administration is committed to provide basic facilities to the forest dwellers in the district.

Zilla Panchayat Standing Committee on Social Justice S N Raja Rao said “tribals should get all the basic infrastructures. The survey on the land owned by tribals should be informed to Forest Rights Committee members.”

Zilla Panchayat CEO A B Ibrahim said that various department officials should co-operate with the district administration and ZP in providing basic facilities. AC Dr M R Ravi spoke on the survey of individual land holders and community land holdings.

Budakattu Krishikara Sangha President Kudiyara Muthappa urged the district administration to provide a permanent solution to the problems faced by the tribals.

ITDP Officer Ganeshappa, forest department officials were present.
