JOIN USCirculars issued by the government have been thrown into winds while allotting houses under Indira Awas and Ambedkar housing schemes. Eligible poor have been dropped from the list of beneficiaries, the MLA said while speaking at a progress review meeting of 30 gram panchayat secretaries. He observed that irregularities have been committed in implementing National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. Works have been carried out using machines and there have been discrepancies in the number of people employed to carry out a work. Alleging role of middlemen in the works carried under the scheme, he asked the Gram Panchayat secretaries to follow the guidelines laid down by the government in toto.
Disclosing that he had come across several instances of irregularities in Gram Panchayats, Amaresh cautioned of initiating disciplinary action if the secretaries failed to change their ways.
Taluk Panchayat executive officer Sanjappa, extension officer Ashwatha Gowda and others were present in the meeting.
