Shoddy work alleged on Rs 58 lakh road construction project

 Speaking to reporters here on Saturday the deputy commissioner said that the road was asphalted in 2008. He said, the public had complained that within six months after the work, the tar has eroded and the road is filled with potholes, causing inconvenience to the commuters and vehicle users.

Report sought

Acting on the villagers’ complaint on the damaged road the public District In-Charge Minister Mumtaz Ali Khan had ordered the district administration to inspect the condition of the road and submit a report to the Government, Anwar Pasha said.

Stating that the contractors have been paid their due amount for the Rs 58 lakh worth project, and as per the regulations, the deputy commissioner said, they have to maintain the roads for the next two years.

Investigation into the matter is on, he said adding that during the inspection he inquired the villagers, the Public Works Department officials and the contractors.

A detailed report in this regard will soon be sent to the State government, the deputy commissioner Anwar Pasha said.
