FCI union demands direct payment system

The workers union in the city headed by Krishnegowda said that out of the 21 godowns in the state, five have direct payment system while remaining 16 have not been provided this facility.  He demanded immediate implementation of direct payment system for all the godown workers in the city.

The union has also demanded payment of bonus with effect from April 1, 2006. The union expresses its concern over problems including price rise, unwarranted violation of Labour Laws and Trade Union Rights, declining living conditions and inhuman exploitation of working class.  The union said that food handling workers are victims of exploitations.
Despite several meetings being held there has been no progress in settlement of the demands and the grievances of the workers, the members complained.

Demanding decentralisation of pension cases to the regional level, the union has also demanded revision of allowances for medicine, food, dusting, travelling, and education.
