'Send Central observers for byelections'

The elections for Kadur and Gulbarga South Assembly constituencies are scheduled for September 13.

Speaking to reporters in Bangalore on Tuesday, Revanna said Minister for Housing, IT & BT Katta Subramanya Naidu and other BJP leaders were offering money in the constituencies to woo voters. Leaders of the ruling party had been dividing society on the caste lines. They had threatened minorities and backward classes of withdrawing power connection provided under the Bhagyajyoti Scheme, he alleged.

Reacting to chief minister’s allegations that relatives of H D Kumaraswamy are involved in illegal mining, Revanna said Yeddyurappa was engaging in petty politics in the wake of elections to two constituencies. Instead of making baseless allegations against Opposition leaders, the chief minister should order for a CBI inquiry, as the JD(S) had been demanding. Every decision on mining taken during the rule of Kumaraswamy and Yeddyurappa should be referred to the CBI, he said.
