St Mary's Feast: City police ban sale of liquor

All liquor shops, bars and bar and restaurants will remain closed from 6 am to 10 pm on Wednesday in Commercial Street, Shivajinagar and Bharathinagar police limits.

Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari took a decision to ban the sale of liquor based on the report submitted by DCP (East Division) Chandra Shekar that miscreants are likely to create law and order problem by participating in the procession in an inebriated condition.

One lakh devotees

Nearly one lakh devotees are expected to attend the procession which will pass through M K Street, Russel Market, Shivaji Road, Broadway Road and Noronha Road.

Traffic restrictions

The City traffic police have imposed following traffic restrictions in view of annual St Mary's Feast on September 8 at Shivajinagar.

These restrictions will be in effect from 1 pm on September to 8 to 9 am on September 9.

 - Jyothi Café Circle towards Russel Market vice versa on Meenakshi Koil Street
- Broadway Road junction with Cockburn Road towards Russel Market vice versa
- Dharmaraja Koil Street from its junction with Old Poor House road towards Russel
Market Taj Circle
- Seppings Road and Arunac- halam Mudaliar Road junction towards Russel Market
- B R V Junction towards Shivajinagar bus stand, south to north including BMTC buses
- Balekundri Circle towards Shivajinagar bus stand, from west to east including BMTC buses
