JOIN USGuruvayoor Devaswom sources said the call was received at their office around 4 pm with the caller saying that a bomb had been placed. Temple administrator K M Raghuraman immediately alerted the police who conducted a thorough search of the temple as well as its premises with the help of the anti-sabotage and dog squads.
The bomb disposal squad from Thrissur was also pressed into service. Finally, Kunnamkulam DySP P Radhakrishnan announced that the call was hoax as no bomb was found. However, the bomb squad would be stationed near the temple till Monday and more security personnel have been deployed.
Sources pointed out that the temple was yet to install a high-tech security system despite it being one of the most important temples in south India.
