"Medical Education Minister Lalji Verma has directed the medical education department to issue warning to those medical colleges who have failed to utilise the funds allocated for purchase of medicines," a government spokesman said here today.
Rupees five crore were allocated to Gorakhpur and Allahabad medical colleges against which they had utilised only 1.45 crore, he said.
"As against an allocation of Rs 18 crore for medical colleges to purchase medicines, only 8.5 crore had been utilised," the spokesman said.
The minister also directed them to ensure free distribution of medicines to in and out patients in medical colleges.
