Sahil shines for City XI in dull draw

After amassing 338/9 in their first innings on the first day, Bangalore City XI appeared heading for a victory when they dismissed Raichur for 140 in 59 overs on the second day. Saleem was the wercker-in-chief with his five for 29.

However, B’lore City XI chose to bat again instead of forcing a follow-on, and finished the day at 49/4 in 15 overs to settle for a draw.

In the other match, Tumkur Zone gained first innings lead in their drawn match against Shimoga Zone. Shimoga, who were 18 for one at stumps on day one in reply to Tumkur’s 265 all out, could muster only 201 all out in 57.5 overs. Tumkur were 110 for three in 32 overs when the match was called off.

Brief scores: Bangalore City XI: 338/9 in 90 overs and 49/4 in 15 overs (Abhinandan Bapat 2-13, Munner 2-8) drew Raichur Zone: 140 all out in 59 overs (Nagaraj 35, Md Yusuf 25; Sahil Saleem 5-29).

Tumkur Zone: 265 all out in 79.3 overs and 110/3 in 32 overs (Jayesh M 53 n.o.; Amogh Varsha NR 32; Sajjad Ali 2-7) drew Shimoga Zone: 201 all out in 57.5 overs (Vijay umar HR 33, Arjun SM 33, Syed Sufiyan 27; S Nikith 4-26, HG Ganesh 3-40).
