Belur rapped for 'indiscipline'

While maintaining that Belur Gopalakrishna was free to take any decision, Eshwarappa advised the MLA against issuing statements in public.

“It is quite natural to desire a Cabinet berth. Issuing public statements that embarrass the party will not be tolerated,” he told reporters here on Sunday.

He added that it was impossible to accommodate every legislator in the Cabinet and that “Belur Gopalakrishna is a new comer to the party and as State president, I will apprise him of the need to maintain discipline.”

Commenting on the resignation of Medical Education Minister Ramachandra Gowda, he said the party will welcome the decision. “Gowda has voluntarily decided to quit to avoid embarrassment to Government and the party and there was no pressure from neither the Government nor the party,” he maintained. Turning his ire towards Opposition leader Siddaramaiah, he alleged that the latter was issuing frustrated statements fearing Congress’ defeat in the byelections.
