Indian dies in accident near New York

Ashwani Mehta, 34, was killed in the crash that happened early Saturday morning when the bus bound from Philadelphia to Toronto crashed into the bridge, according to a report in the 'Philadelphia Inquirer'.

Another media report said that Mehta, an IT specialist, was taking a day trip to visit the Niagara Falls.

The other three who died were from New Jersey, Kansas and Malaysia. Five others have been seriously injured. The Megabus was carrying 29 people.

The bus struck the bridge between two large signs warning that the clearance was 10 feet, 9 inches. The bus' top level was severely damaged due to the crash, the report said.

No charges have yet been filed against the driver, 59-year-old John Tomaszewski. There is no indication that Tomaszewski had been drinking or using drugs.
