Speaking to Deccan Herald, Datta said that Ravi is controlling the elections sitting at  Sakharayapatna. BJP partyworkers are seen luring the voters at places which are under JD(S) influence.

“When JD(S) party workers tried to stop BJP workers from resorting to treacherous means, Sakharayapatna Sub Inspector Vasanth Kumar turned violent. This SI must be suspended,” said Datta who staged a protest at Kadur-Chikmagalur road along with his supporters. This move of Datta turned the situation tense for sometime.

He withdrew his stir only after District Superintendent of Police Vikas Kumar promised to suspend SI Vasanth Kumar. Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee former director Channaveerappa and Gram Panchayat Member Venkatesh among others were beaten up in the incident.

Datta said that a protest will be led by JD(S) Supremo H D Devegowda on Tuesday outside District Superintendent of Police’s office demanding  suspension of Sub Inspector Vasanth Kumar.

Ravi speaks

However, clarifying the allegations, C T Ravi has said that Datta is making such statements  just to hush up his fear of failure.

“Datta is sure of his defeat hence he is preparing himself right away to cite reasons for his failure. Neither have I ever been to Lakshmipura nor have I spoken to Sakharayapatna Sub Inspector,” said Ravi.  He advised Datta to know how the administrative mechanism works and what influence the constitution has on it.
