However, they were in for a pleasant surprise when they were given a warm welcome by the college including an orientation ceremony during which, they heard inspiring speeches from all the guests.

Apart from Principal Dr Rajanikant, who extended his wishes to the freshers, others who were present at the event were P Balram, G K Ramaiah, Jasbir Singh, S M Acharya, M R Seetharam, M R Jayaram and K S Rajanandam.  Later, some of the first year students from B Tech and B Arch interacted with Metrolife and spoke about their first day in college.

Shruti, a student of B E telecommunication, who hails from Hyderabad, loves the campus and the hostel of the college. “The hostels are clean and comfortable and even the food is good. Everyone in the college looks happy and content,” she smiles. Shruti also feels that the teachers are “extremely friendly”.

“After our orientation, we were taken to the various departments of the college.” Shruti is looking forward to the non-technical subjects like ‘Environmental Studies’ and
‘Constitution Of India’.

“These subjects have been introduced for the sake of our knowledge, and to help us if we plan to join the Civil Services.”  B Arch student Jaydev has made loads of friends within the first few days of college itself. He hopes to take part in various extracurricular activities as well.

“I like playing basketball and I am hoping to take part in various competitions like debates and dumb charades,” he says.  Jitesh, a B E student, was amazed to see the mechanical lab of the college on the first day.

“I had never seen anything like that before,” he exclaims. A budding cricketer, Jitesh has already attended the cricket selection trials and got selected for the semester team. “Now we will play the semester matches and depending on how we perform, we will be selected for college cricket team.”

Coming to Bangalore for the first time from Kolkata is Deepan, a B E Biotech Engineering student. “College has been superb,” he gushes. “On the first day itself, we were given a glimpse of what college life would be like,” he adds.

He is planning to try his hand at sports too. “I would like to try for the badminton team,” he says.  Lakshmi, a student of electronics and communication, feels that the teachers at MSRIT are the best! “They clarify all your doubts.” Despite being loaded with assignments, Lakshmi is not complaining.

“We are busy with our schedules but it’s great fun,” she says. “I even met students from other countries and made friends with them,” she smiles.  Nabeelah did her entire schooling in Muscat. Naturally, she had many expectations from MSRIT. And the institution lived up to all her expectations.

From childhood, I had been hearing about MSRIT and had always wanted to get into this college,” she says. Nabeelah explored the sprawling campus of the college too.  “Since I had lots of time on the first few days, I roamed around the campus. The college is equipped with the best facilities.”
