'Tainted' corporator suspended

Last Updated 15 September 2010, 18:43 IST

The State Government issued an order to this effect on September 13. The corporator has been restricted from carrying out any development projects in his ward and no funds will be released to his ward until the court gives a final verdict.

Opposition leader M Nagaraj (Congress) termed the suspension as a political gimmick by the government. “The Yeddyurappa government, if really keen on respecting the institution of Lokayukta should have suspened Y Sampangi, the legislator from KGF,” he said. Nagaraj said the High Court will hear the matter and outcome will be known soon.
