<p>Principal Secretary, IT and BT, Ashok Kumar C Manoli will be laying foundation stone for ‘SPICity Phase two’ here on September 16 at 11 am, said CEO and MD, SPI, Sid Mookerji.<br />Addressing media on Wednesday, Sid Mookerji said the phase two city will be in addition to that of phase one that is functioning since 2006.<br /><br />New facility<br /><br /> The new facility is expected to be completed in next 18 months at an estimated cost of Rs 20 crore. It will be having a capacity to accommodate 1,000 more employees taking the total strength of employees to 2,500 by 2012, he added.<br /><br />Police Commissioner Sunil Agarwal will preside over the ceremony and Chairman, SPI Board, John Cook is among other dignitaries to be present on the occasion.<br /><br />Domestic market<br /><br />Allaying fears about IT growth, Sid Mookerji asserted that the company is growing at a pace, thanks to its unique niche it has been following to move ahead. As many as 600 people have been hired by the company in 2010, he said.<br /><br /> On future plans, Sid Mookerji said that the company intends to explore domestic market besides focusing on retail. Answering a question, he said that they are studying pros and cons on investing in other cities in Karnataka.
