Fortnight yakshagana programme from Sept 19

 
Addressing a press meet here on Wednesday, convenor of Havyasi Balaga Sharath Kumar Kadri said that the 15 days long programme will be inaugurated by Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board CEO T Shyam Bhat. Senior Folklore expert Dr Amrith Someshwar will preside over the programme.

The 15 days yakshagana will include talamaddale and bayalata. The themes of talamaddale are ‘Vamana,’ ‘vali,’ ‘athikaya,’ ‘tharanisena,’ ‘magadha,’ ‘kaurava,’ ‘Jaabali.’ The theme on bayalata include ‘Draupadi,’ ‘vaishalini,’ ‘meenakshi,’ ‘rathi,’ ‘dakshyayini,’ ‘Rukmini,’ ‘Sridevi.’
About 15 yakshagana artistes will be honoured during the 15 days programme. They include K Anantharama Bangadi, Seetharam Kumar Kateel, Siddakatte Chennappa Shetty, Korgi Venkateshwar Upadhyaya, Lakshmeesha Ammannaya, Puthige Raghurama Holla, Kuriya Ganapathy Shastri, Ubaradka Umesh Shetty, Bottikere Purushothama Poonja, Vitla Shambhusharma, M K Ramesh Acharya, Bellare Vishwanath Rai, Padyana Shankara Narayana Bhat, Jayakumar Udyavara.

Fifteen bhagavathas will take part during the fortnight long yakshagana. They include Balipa Prasad Bhat, Puthur Ramesh Bhat, Karunakara Shettigar Kashipattna, Kaniyur Sooryanarayana Bhat, Anekall Ganapathy Bhat, Chendeguli Narasimha Shastri, Purushotham Bhat Niduvaje, Gopalakrishna Bhat Pundikai, Rajaram Holla Kairangala, Sathish Shetty Bondel, Srinivas Gowda, Praphullachandra Nellyadi, Aruva Yogish Acharya, Subrahmanya Oddur, Pradeep Kumar Gatti.
