DDPU office cries for own building

Last Updated 15 September 2010, 17:40 IST

Situated at the crowded market in Gandhi Chowka building, the office lacks own building. Besides, there is no proper address for the office.

The narrow road where the office is located features crowded shops and heavy traffic. According to DDPU Vijay Verma, the office has to pay Rs 7.5 as rent every month. Although the office is quite spacious, there is no proper nameboard.

Teaching fraternity who visit the office almost everyday literally have to make way for themselves from the banana heaps as a wholesale banana shop is situated next to it.
But what is more worrying the DDPU is lack of space to accommodate answersheets during examinations. Besides, the staff have to carry it from the main road as the vehicle transporting these sheets cannot enter the narrow road.

“We have tried to shift the office to the Government Boys’ College in the town where four rooms have been left unused,” said Vijay Verma. But he has not been able to do so as his colleagues are learnt to have opposed to it. Moreover, the college administration too is not keen to accommodate the DDPU office, he added.

He further told that the Department Director has granted permission to shift the office. Besides, he said he would seek assistance from the Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) whose office is also situated at the college premises.
