India won the World Cup in the projected images category beating Italy and won the gold medal (second place) in the printed sections loosing to Italy. India also lost the Odette Bretscher trophy to Italy by a very narrow margin. The country has won the World cup four times in the past.

This is the first time that the global nature photography event is being hosted in India. The event was organised by M N Jayakumar, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests.
 India's Babi Nobis won the silver medal for 'Leopard with Kill' and Mandanna K A won the bronze medal for 'Wild dogs with kill'. Jacky Martin, jury member and the Director of FIAP Nature said that there was a lot of potential in the amateur photographers especially in India.

There were more than 850 photographs and projected images from more than 570 of the world's leading nature photographers representing 32 countries. Interestingly, Nine of the 10 Indian photographers were from Bangalore. The awards will be presented at a function in Bangalore on October 7 and an exhibition of the award winning photographs will be held at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat from October 7 to 12.
