Saxophone recital

International Music and Arts Society and The Forum for Teachers of Western Classical Music present The Dancing Saxophone, a saxophone recital by Claudia Schaetzle, accompanied on piano by Monique de Margerie at Alliance Francaise on July 3 at 7 pm.

Claudia Schaetzle holds a degree in saxophone from the Musickhochschule Wurzburg (Master of Music), Akademie fur Tonkunst in Darmstadt, Conservatoire de Musique de Bordeaux (Fin d' Etudes), and Bowling Green State University. Schaetzle performs in various ensembles, notably Frontier Saxophone Quartet, Tesorino Jazz Group and saxophone due Duonita, as well as in duos with piano and organ.

Monique de Margerie, on the other hand, is a Canadian pianist from Sherbrooke in the province of Quebec. He started piano lessons at the age of five and her talent was encouraged by her piano teacher, Sister Paul Omer.

Her skills as a chamber musician and her inborn talent for pedagogy led her to work as an accompanist at the Hochschule fur Music in Freiburg. In 2000, she went on a solo concert tour in South-East Germany before coming back to Canada. Since her return to Canada, she has been teaching at the University Laval in Quebec City while pursuing her career as a pianist.The programme will range from light classics to jazz.

Tickets will be available at the Cafe de la Liberte at the Alliance Francaise.
