Microsoft announces new set of developer tools

This has been targeted to provide developers with more choice especially for open source developers using Windows Azure, a company release here said.

"We are working to give open source developers more access to our platforms. One example of this is our support for an open and interoperable cloud, which we believe is critical for businesses, governments and organisations to take full advantage of cloud-enabled innovations", Microsoft Interoperability Strategy team Principal Architect Vijay Rajagopalan said.

"The new softeware development kits and tools are an important step towards ensuring an open cloud that in turn brings greater flexibility to our partners and customers" , he said.
The Azure Services Platform was an internet-scale cloud services hosted in Microsoft data centers, which provides an operating system and a set of developer services that could be used individually or together, he said.

The Windows Azure platform already allows developers to use multiples languages (.NET, PHP, Ruby, Python or Java) and development tools to build applications which run on any of the Windows Azure platform from any other cloud or on premise platform, he said.

Microsoft Corporation India, 100 per cent subsidiary of Microsoft Corporation USA, currently has presence in 13 cities in the country, the release said.
