Heroin seized , 2 held

Acting on a tip off, police waylaid a two-wheeler and arrested the duo while attempting to sell heroin brought from Goa.

The arrested have been identified as Suraj (28), a resident of Kulshekar and Gauthamchandra (24), of Bikarnakatte.
The police have recovered a laptop, a gold chain, 12 mobile phones, cash and the Kinetic Honda scooter from the accused.

Pedestrian killed
A pedestrian was killed when a two-wheeler knocked him down at Badagulippady near Ganjimata on Saturday. The dead has been identified as Krishna Mesthri.
Though he was rushed to the hospital, he breathed his last on way to the hospital.A case has been registered.

Crops destroyed
Crops have been destroyed in the wild elephants attack at Kollamogra and Balugodu in Subrahmanya. The wild elephants have destroyed seven coconut trees, several arecanut tress and banana plants belonging to Sridhar Bhagavath. The elephants have also damaged organic compost units. The elephants have also damaged the crops grown by Koojugodu Raviraj, Jayaram and others.

Man ends life
A man committed suicide as his wife allegedly did not give him money to drink alcohol at Shivalli in Udupi on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Balakrishna Shetty (48). He was an alcoholic and was pestering his wife to give him for money to drink. When she refused to give money, he committed suicide by hanging. A case has been registered.
