MoU to help poor get health care facilities

 With the agreement in place, poor patients will get health care facilities at Kasturba Hospital Manipal, Dr T M A Pai Hospital Udupi and Karkala at a subsidised cost.
According to the agreement, the patients selected by G Shankar Family Trust will be given special discount on the treatment charges at the said hospitals.

Dialysis related to kidney problem can be done at Rs 650. Monetary aid will be extended by the Trust for both angioplasty and open heart surgery and 10 children suffering from cancer. As many as 100 patients identified from Dr T M A Pai Hospital Udupi will be provided with the free general ward treatment card from the Trust. A total of 7,000 Manipal Mahe Health Cards will be distributed to the Trust for 2010-11. Reduction in course fee will be offered to those students who opt for para medical course in Manipal University with the Trust’s recommendations.

A dialysis centre will be opened at Dr T M A Pai Hospital Udupi in memory of Kamala Krishnappa Kotian Mudubelle. Relatives of the patients will be provided accommodation at Lakshmi Soma Bangera Hall near Manipal Hospital. The agreement was signed by Manipal University Chancellor Dr Ramdas Pai and Trust Head Dr G Shankar on Saturday.
