Two killed in Maoist-villager gunfight in Bihar

"Village head Satyanarayan Singh and another villager were killed in the encounter and the casualty on the part of the Maoists was not immediately known," SP P K Srivastava told PTI.
About 150 armed Maoists surrounded the residents of the villages and fired upon them this evening even as the villagers, armed under the banner 'Shanti Sena' returned the fire, he said.

The district police authorities heard about the gunfight later in the day and no police enforcement has been sent to assist the villagers, he said.Meanwhile, the expelled BSP MLA Ram Chandra Singh Yadav claimed that 26 villagers have been surrounded by the Maoists.
