Centre sincere on addressing party's concerns on AFSPA: NC

Last Updated 20 September 2010, 13:58 IST

"We do not doubt the sincerity of the Central government (in addressing its concerns over AFSPA)" and the situation would not come to reconsider ties with the UPA, senior NC leader Abdul Rahim Rather told reporters here.

He was responding to questions whether the NC would review its ties with the UPA if the ruling alliance at the Centre did not address its concerns over AFPSA and restoration of autonomy to the state.

After the core group meeting of the NC on September 14, the party had said it would not repeat the mistake of 2000 when it continued to be part of the NDA regime even after the autonomy resolution passed by the Legislative Assembly had been summarily rejected.
Rather said it was premature to comment on pulling out of the alliance at the Centre.
