Last Updated 20 September 2010, 17:43 IST

The allegations of irregularities in the tender for garbage clearance rocked the meeting.  Congress member Yashwanth accused the authorities and successive presidents of indulging in widespread irregularities in the garbage disposal tender.

Surprisingly, ruling party member C R Shankar also voiced his protest against non - clearance of garbage in the city. These charges created a rumpus as few ruling party members protested. It lead to total chaos in the meeting.

When the president Rangaswamy clarified that there were no irregularities, the Janata Dal (Secular ) members protested. Shankar surprised everybody by stating that the president be held responsible if anything happens to him in coming days.

Yashwanth who continued his tirade against the ruling JD(S) said leave citizens, even members have not seen a person who had bagged tender for clearing the garbage. The localities are stinking due to piling up garbage.

Though, the CMC was paying Rs 7 lakh every month to contractor, the garbage in the city was an eyesore. The council should cancel the tender allotted to the person as he has cleaned any ward in the city.

Another member H M Suresh alleged that contractors are denying facilities and benefits to pourakarmikas and demanded a probe.
MLA H S Prakash who was present in the meeting turned out to be mute spectator for the mudslinging within his party members. He remained silent even on the allegations of irregularities.

Rangaswamy said the allegations were far from truth and officials would be asked to ensure that garbage are cleared from all the localities everyday.
