Last Updated 21 September 2010, 19:06 IST

Terming the situation in the Valley “purely an internal affair” of India, New Delhi said the Pakistani National Assembly and Senate had no locus standi to adopt such resolutions on J&K.

The resolutions adopted by the Pakistani Senate and the National Assembly on Monday called on the world community to take note of the “oppression” of the people of J&K. They urged the UN to ensure the implementation of all resolutions on Kashmir and asked the Pakistan Government to continue supporting the Kashmiris’ struggle for right to self-determination.

“We have seen reports of resolutions on J&K that have been passed in the National Assembly and the Senate of Pakistan. We reject these resolutions. They have no locus standi on what is purely an internal affair of India,” MEA spokesman Vishnu Prakash said.
