Dasara Thali at Rs 20!

Unique gift to visitors by district administration and hoteliers

While reducing the rate, the association has also removed two items from the menu: papad and Vangibhath or Bisibele bhath. Association President Rajendra said there had been pressure on him from the district administration to slash the rate as much as possible in the interest of thousands of visitors who cannot afford in normal hotels.

After detailed discussion, it was agreed to fix the rate for ‘Dasara Thali’ at Rs 20. “No doubt it causes loss for hoteliers. But what to do when the district administration requested to reconsider? The association feels it as a Dasara gift for tourists”.

He said the association will shortly release a list of hotels where the ‘Dasara Thali’ is available. But this rate is not applicable in three and five star hotels, he clarified.
It may be mentioned here that the association had expressed its inability to offer the ‘Dasara Thali’ at Rs 10 or 15 as announced by Urban Development, Law and Parliamentary Affairs and District-In-Charge Minister S Sureshkumar during one of the Dasara meetings here. The association had stated that hoteliers would incur loss if they give a plate meal at that rate.
