Shaji told Deccan Herald here that the shooting of the motion picture was expected to begin in April next year and the locations would be China, the UK and Africa. Sensing a double opportunity, Shaji also plans to make a documentary on the controversial painter who is living in exile in Qatar, which recently granted him citizenship.
“I am leaving on October 20 for discussions with Husain though we have already spoken over the phone and finalised the project through his agent,” said Shaji, who has made a dozen documentaries.
Not much is known about the 95-year-old artist’s film, which will be his third venture in the world of cinema after “Gaja Gamini”, which featured Madhuri Dixit and “Meenaxi - A tale of three cities” starring Tabu.
Husain was quite impressed by Shaji’s “Vanaprastham”.
