Desilting and development of the tank can help in avoiding over-flow of stormwater drains. The tank is filled with silt and not in a position to take rainwater. The rejuvenated tank can reduce load on drains and recharge the groundwater table.

The Chief Minister said that the Palike officers had attended to problems created, following heavy rains. Ministers R Ashok, Katta Subramanya Naidu, V Somanna and others visited the rain-affected areas and gave instructions to officers for necessary measures. Yeddyurappa said the Palike had taken a decision to construct a retaining wall to avoid flooding of Gali Anjaneya Temple on Mysore Road.

The Chief Minister said his Government had taken up programmes to ease traffic related woes in the City. The first phase of the Metro rail work would be completed within eight days, before the present schedule.
