Deputy Commissioner Annies Joy Kanmani directed the polling booth sector officers to visit the polling booths in their jurisdiction and submit a report as a part of preparations towards the parliamentary elections.

Chairing a meeting of election officials at the DC's office hall in Madikeri on Sunday, she said that the officials need to confirm the facilities made available in the polling booths and the precautionary measures to be taken at the sensitive polling booths.

She reiterated that the reports to be submitted by the officials should be based purely on fieldwork.

"The election observers will visit each polling booth after the announcement of election dates. All election-related preparations should be considered seriously," she added.

She instructed the officials concerned to make preparations towards installing CCTV cameras in the check-posts bordering the district. She also directed the tahsildar and Taluk Panchayat executive officials to clear signboards on the highways within 24 hours after the announcement of the election date.

SP Suman D Pennekar directed the officials to gather inputs from the police beat staff in sensitive places consistently. Additional DC Yogesh, Assistant Commissioner T Javaregowda and Tahsildar Kusuma were present among others.
