DK district youth festival on Dec 15, 16

The district administration, Zilla Panchayat, Youth Empowerment and Sports Department, Mangaluru Taluk Panchayat, and MCC, with the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Yuvajana Mela Sanghatana Samiti, will organise a district youth fest at the ground near Sri Durgaparameshwari temple in Chitrapura and Sri Krishna Ranga Mandira, Tannirbavi, Chitrapura on December 15 and 16.

The Zilla Yuvajana Mela Sanghatana Samiti president Thimmappa Salian said that the youth associations of the district registered with the Youth Empowerment and Sports Department may take part.

District In-charge Minister U T Khader will inaugurate the youth fest at the ground near Sri Durgaparameshwari temple in Chitrapura at 5 pm on December 15. Mangalore North MLA Dr Y Bharat Shetty will preside.

The events during the youth fest are: 'Bhavageethe', 'Lavani', 'Ranga Geethe', mono-acting, Tulu songs, 'Gigi Pada', folk song, folk dance, 'Kolata', Bhajan, Tulu Paddhana and Tulu regional dance. There will be separate events for women - 'Ragi Beesuva Pada' and 'Shobhane Pada'. For men, the events are 'Veeragase, 'Dollu kunitha', 'Doddata', 'Sannata', 'Yakshagana' and 'Charmavadya Mela'.

The valedictory programme will be held at 6 pm on December 16. DK and Udupi Zilla Meenu Marata federation president Yashpal Suvarna will preside.
