15 new candidates to face litmus test in Mysuru district

Dr Yathindra Siddaramaiah

This Assembly elections, three major political parties — the BJP, the Congress and the JD(S) — have fielded 15 new candidates, including a woman, from 11 segments in the district.

While the BJP has fielded the highest of seven new candidates, the Congress and the JD(S) have fielded three and five candidates, respectively. Out of them, five candidates have the experience of contesting elections and have been elected as representatives to local bodies.

M Ashwin Kumar and H S Dayanandamurthy of the JD(S), Anil Chikkamadu and D Ravishankar of the Congress are Zilla Panchayat members, K V Mallesh of JD(S) is a corporator. Ashwin Kumar and Anil Chikkamadu were elected as ZP members from the JD(S) while Dayanandamurthy was elected as an Independent and Ravishankar on a Congress ticket. But Anil Chikkamadu joined the Congress as the JD(S) denied him a ticket, following the death of his father MLA Chikkamadu. Dayanandamurthy joined the JD(S) from the BJP, recently.
