5 Bengalureans attacked

Five tourists from Bengaluru, who were on a trip, were assaulted by coracle owners near the Wesley Bridge at Shivanasamudra (Shimsha), on Sunday night.

The injured people, who are from the Garden City locality in Bengaluru, have been identified as Mohammed Nadeem, 18, Parveentaj, 39, Shoaib, 43, Saif, 24 and Riyan, 22.

According to police, the tourists had an argument with the coracle owners who demanded extra money to take them for a ride. In a fit of rage, the coracle operators attacked them with lethal weapons. The injured were provided treatment at the government hospital.
