Congress leader M Veerappa Moily said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s decision to contest from Badami, the historical capital of Chalukyas, is to ensure the demolition of BJP, like Pulikeshin II did for Harshavardhana, the emperor of North India.

Speaking to media persons here on Friday night, Moily said the countdown has begun for the end of BJP’s dominance. The BJP has become total bankrupt. It is led by a leader who has criminal background, he charged.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is into election gimmicks and he loses his sense of mind while on the stage. His words cannot be taken seriously, Moily said.

Moily ridiculed the BJP for delay in announcing the list of its candidates. All wrongdoers have a place in the list, he mocked.

Stating that Modi should be held responsible for cheating Karnataka, he said that the BJP has lost confidence and is desperately under the threat of losing the state.

Elaborating on the poll manifesto of the Congress, Moily said that irrigation will be given importance by earmarking Rs 1,25,000 crore in the next five years if Congress comes to power as against the amount of Rs 58,000 crore spent during the present term. BJP had allotted mere Rs 16,000 crore during 2008-13.

Each house and field will be provided special facilities and Paschimavahini project will be strengthened. Already, the project has been executed successfully, and additional funds will be allotted to make it more useful in rural areas, he added.

He alleged that most of the ideas in Congress manifesto are robbed by BJP. Already, 15 lakh houses have been built for the poor by the Congress government. In the next five years, the number will be 50 lakh. The Congress has spent Rs 75,000 crore under SC/ST component when compared to Rs 26,000 crore by the BJP, he claimed.

He expressed confidence that Congress will sweep all the 13 assembly constituencies in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. Modi spent 47 days on campaigning in Gujarat. In Karnataka, it is only 7-8 days as he knows about the party’s defeat, he charged.

Reiterating that women and Dalits are not safe under the BJP rule, he said that the BJP is supporting the culprits in Unao and Kathua cases, which is a tragedy.

He also alleged that five crore jobs were lost due to unscientific GST. The country lost Rs 2 lakh crore due to demonetisation and the banks registered a loss of Rs 95,000 crore after the BJP came to power in the country, he claimed.
