Former vice chancellor of two universities in Mysuru K S Rangappa said that he has got an invitation to become an advisor to the Education ministry of the state government.

Rangappa, who unsuccessfully contested the recent Assembly election on a JD(S) ticket from Chamaraja constituency in the city, was the VC of the century-old University of Mysore and the now de-recognised Karnataka State Open University. Rangappa is related to the family of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy. His son Shreyas is married to Namratha, daughter of Anasuya, Kumaraswamy’s elder sister.

He said that if he is made an advisor to the Education department, he would effect comprehensive and far-fetching changes in the education system within six months. “I am an academic advisor to various universities in Singapore, Japan and other nations. I am aware of the good practices in the education sector in developed nations. “Recently, I was also elected as the president of the Indian Science Congress. It will also help me in the task. I have experience as VC for 8 years in two universities,” he said.
