Weightlifter Gururaj, who won a silver medal in the men’s 56 kg category on the first day of Commonwealth Games 2018, will be arriving at Mangaluru International Airport on Thursday at 11.30 am.
The district administration would accord a grand welcome to him at the airport and later honour him at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Manipal at 1 pm, stated a press release.
A native of Chittoor in Kundapur taluk of Udupi district, Gururaj had won a gold in 2016 in the South Asia athletics meet and is also a recipient of Ekalavya Award.
