Nine cows run over by train

Nine cows were killed, and three others injured, after being knocked by a train in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, near Muchandi village in Belagavi taluk. The incident came to light on Tuesday morning.

Farmers of Hulyanur, Budyanur and other villages in the surrounding areas leave their livestock free for grazing at night.

The cows which were resting and mulching on the tracks between the railway sleepers were run over by the train.

Farmers on their way to work in the morning noticed the corpses and later the news spread in the village.

When asked for a comment, Railway police stated that they had received no such reports.
