‘Pro-Pak slogan’: Cong demands probe

Former Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo submits a memorandum to City Police Commissioner Vipul Kumar in Mangaluru on Monday.

Former Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo has appealed to the City Police Commissioner Vipul Kumar to initiate strict action against those who were responsible for posting morphed video of Vijayotsava by the Congress.

The video reportedly shows raising slogans in favour of Pakistan. In a memorandum submitted to City Police Commissioner Vipul Kumar, he said the Congress activists had observed Vijayotsava after B S Yeddyurappa tendered resignation.

“However, a few anti-social elements had edited the video of the celebration and added the slogan in favour of Pakistan and posted it on social media. No slogans were shouted in favour of Pakistan during the celebration,” he claimed.

The delegation comprised Mayor Bhaskar Moily, Deputy Mayor Mohammed Kunjathbail, Corporators Purushotham Chitrapura, Appi, Shashidhar Hegde, Sabitha Misquith, Praveen Chandra and others.

A complaint filed by Samarth Bhat on behalf of Congress workers at Kadri Police station said the video was posted by one Roopesh Shet on Facebook, which became viral. Following this, derogatory posts inciting communal hate have also been posted.
