DYFI performs mock inauguration of Thokkottu flyover

Last Updated 31 December 2018, 18:57 IST

Condemning the inordinate delay in the construction of the flyover, Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) activists donning the masks of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and DK MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, performed a mock inauguration of the flyover at Thokkottu.

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and the contractor for the work had promised to complete the work on the flyover at Thokkottu by December end.

As the project has missed several deadlines, the DYFI Ullal wanted to bring it to the notice of MP Nalin Kumar Kateel through the protest.

DYFI district committee secretary Santhosh Kumar Bajal said, “The work on the repair of the national highway from Talapady to Kundapur was not taken up. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has been issuing false promises on the completion of the project. Now, he is trying to mislead the public by stating that the work will be completed by February end. The poor riders and vehicle drivers are put to hardship due to the incomplete work on the flyover and national highway.”

He said the Modi government came to power by promising “Ache din” for the citizens of the country. Unfortunately, the government could not provide a good road to the people. The mock inauguration was organised only to highlight the failure of Nalin Kumar Kateel.

The work on the flyover and road was taken 11 years ago. If the work is not completed at the earliest, then the DYFI will intensify its protest, he warned.

CPM Ullal unit secretary Krishnappa Salian said students face inconvenience due to the traffic congestion following incomplete road and flyover work at Thokkottu.
