Eco sports amuse onlookers

The eco sports for four-wheelers organised by the Sports Club Trust amused the onlookers at Doragallu in Koppa taluk on Saturday.

The event was flagged off at Balagadi on the outskirts of Koppa. The vehicles traversed 13-km passing through Doragalli, Kiranakere, Chavalmane, Kokkodu, Balegadde, and surrounding areas. They passed through streams, inside arecanut plantations and steep curves.

More than 60 vehicles participated in the off-road category. The routes were challenging for the enthusiastic drivers. A few vehicles got stuck in the stream and had to be pulled to the banks using a tractor. Even women were seen participating enthusiastically.

Mohan from Shivamogga said, “It is a challenge to drive on steep curvy roads inside estates in Malnad. Such sports should be organised every year.”

Dr Nataraj R of Adarsha Hospital flagged off the event.
