The INC candidate defeated BJP candidate Surayakanth Nagmarpalli by a margin of 10245 votes.</p>.<p>In 2018, Bidar constituency had 216853 electors, including 110990 males and 105836 females.</p>.<p>The constituency had 27 third-gender voters in 2018.</p>.<p>After the 2018 polls, JD(S) and Congress formed a coalition government with H D Kumaraswamy as the Chief Minister.</p>.<p>However, the coalition government collapsed in 2019 following resignations of 13 rebel Congress and JD(S) MLAs. The BJP subseqently formed a government with B S Yediyurappa becoming the Chief Minister.</p>.<p>In 2021, the BJP strongman resigned from the CM's post after which Basavaraj Bommai became the CM.</p>
