Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024 | Just 103 votes in 'Bigg Boss'-fame Ajaz Khan's kitty despite 5.6 million Instagram followers

Ajaz Khan of Bigg Boss fame, who had contested the Maharashtra Assembly elections from the Versova seat in Mumbai, has failed to convert his massive social media following into electoral gains, managing to secure only 103 votes so far.

Khan, who has around 5.6 million followers on Instagram, is trailing even the NOTA option in the constituency, which was opted for by 747 Versova voters.

The reality TV personality had contested the election with the 'Kettle' symbol, backed by the Azad Samaj Party, Bhim Army.

On the other hand, leading the seat is Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Haroon Khan, who is ahead of his closest rival, BJP's Dr Bharati Lavekar, by 3,484 votes, at the time of writing.

Social media quickly caught on to Ajaz Khan's performance in the Assembly elections.

One X user said, “Ajaz Khan who has 5.6 million followers on Instagram got 79 votes. When you realise 16-year-olds cannot vote in State Elections unlike Bigg Boss evictions.”

Khan, who has also acted in some Bollywood movies, was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in a drugs case in 2021.

Maharashtra was coloured a vivid saffron on Saturday with voters giving the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance a landslide win over a tottering MVA while the opposition I.N.D.I.A. bloc looked set to return to power in Jharkhand.

As votes were counted for the assembly elections in the two states, it was time for celebration in the BJP with the party poised to win 125 of the 149 seats it contested in the powerhouse state of Maharashtra. Together with its partners Shiv Sena and NCP, the ruling Maha Yuti alliance could win 219 of the 288 seats in the state, leaving the MVA with just 51 seats.

As the opposition reeled under the impact of the decisive mandate against it in Maharashtra, Jharkhand offered some consolation.

In the 81-seat Jharkhand assembly, the BJP was ahead in 27 seats, while the Chief Minister Hemant Soren-led JMM was leading in 30 seats, the Congress in 14, the RJD in four, and the CPI-ML in one, according to the Election Commission website.
