Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024 | No question of restoring Article 370, says Modi in Maharashtra

Mumbai: As the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly witnessed chaos over a contentious resolution seeking to reinstate Article 370 of the Constitution, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserted that it is out of question and the BJP-led NDA government will not allow Congress to further the "Pakistani-agenda". 

“No force in the world can restore Article 370,” Modi said addressing a rally in Dhule.

“Let me tell you, Article 370 will never be restored,” Shah said addressing a rally in Sangli.

Modi and Shah were in Maharashtra to address multiple rallies for the BJP-led Maha Yuti in the run-up to the Vidhan Sabha polls. 

Speaking about the abrogation of the Article 370, Modi said that it is one of the biggest decisions post Independence in India.

“As soon as Congress and its allies (National Conference) got the opportunity to form a government in Jammu and Kashmir, they again started conspiring over Kashmir…They have again passed a resolution  to implement Article 370….this will never happen,” said Modi amid thunderous applause. 

“The entire country has seen what is happening in the Jammu & Kashmir Assembly,” Modi said, lashing out at the Congress and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. 

“Till I have the blessing of people, nothing will change,” Modi asserted. 

“Where there is fire of division, at the root of it is Congress's anti-national sentiment. Congress has always been a part of conspiracies to divide the country,” he said.

The Haryana election resulted in a shock loss for Congress, which was looking to galvanize on the Lok Sabha poll performance, while J&K also saw the grand old party eventually stepping away from the cabinet, with Omar Abdullah's JKNC forming government. It remains to be seen if the upcoming polls help BJP cement its position further or provide a fillip to I.N.D.I.A.
