Actor Nithiin's latest movie Check, which hit the screens on Friday, has opened to a decent response at the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana box office. According to reports, the day one share is around Rs 3.3 crore. The film needs to collect a further Rs 12.9 crore to be considered a 'clean hit'.
Check has failed to beat the actor's previous release Bheeshma, which had raked in Rs 6.4 crore on the opening day. The general perception is that the film has not done as well as expected due to the recent hike in ticket prices in the Telugu states.
Check has received mixed to negative reviews with most critics stating that the screenplay does not do justice to the intriguing premise. The climax also hasn't clicked with a section of the audience. The word of mouth is not as good as expected, which may affect the movie in the coming days.
Check has been directed by Chandra Sekhar Yeleti and is his first film in nearly five years. He had last wielded the microphone for the Mohanlal-starrer Manamantha, which clicked with the target audience. Check is touted to be a prison drama and revolves around the journey of a Chess player. It stars Rakul Preet and Mollywood actor Priya Prakash Varrier as the leading ladies. It marks the Oru Adaar Love actor's Tollywood debut and may prove to be a gamechanger for her.
Nithiin, meanwhile, is going through a busy phase on the work front. He will soon be seen in the romantic drama Rang De, which features Keerthy Suresh as the leading lady. It has been directed by Venky Atluri, who had previously wielded the microphone for the well-received Tholi Prema and the Akhil Akkineni-starrer Mr Majnu.
Nithin also has the Telugu remake of the Bollywood hit Andhadhun in his kitty. The film features Solo Brathuke So Better actor Nabha Natesh and 'Milky Beauty' Tamannaah as the leading ladies.
