There's no denying the fact Shahid Kapoor is one of the most popular and bankable stars in the Hindi film industry. 'Shasha' enjoys a strong fan following due to his impressive screen presence and bindass nature. On Thursday, netizens took to Twitter to wish the young star on his birthday. They thanked him for entertaining them with his work and wished him good luck with his upcoming movies.

Shahid, the son of veteran actors Pankaj Kapur and Neelima Azeem, began his acting career with the 2003 release Ishq Vishk. The film did well at the box office while receiving positive reviews. He subsequently acted in movies such as Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi, 36 China Town, Shikar and Jab We Met, emerging as Bollywood's favourite 'Chocolate Boy'.

He went in for an image makeover with the 2014 release Haider, impressing fans with his performance. Shahid ventured into the 'dark zone' with Udta Punjab, a film about drug abuse in the state. His performance as 'Tommy Singh' clicked with the janta, opening new avenues for the star. It was, however, the 2019 release Kabir Singh that established him as a 'box office king'. The film, a remake of the Telugu movie Arjun Reddy, emerged as a big hit despite receiving flak for its 'sexist' storyline. The film revolved around the troubled personal life of a brilliant doctor, played by the Rangoon hero, and had enough 'masala' to satisfy the target audience. The romantic drama featured Kiara Advani as the leading lady, marking her first collaboration with the star.

Shahid will be hoping to consolidate his standing in the industry with his upcoming film Jersey, which features him in the role of an ageing cricketer. The film is expected to hit the screens this year. He is also set to make his web debut with an upcoming series to be directed by Raj and DK.
