<p>The win has earned Girish the title ‘best vocalist in the country’ in the rock genre.<br /><br />In July this year, Girish and his band made a path-breaking performance at the Montenegro International Suncane Skale Festival in Europe.<br /><br />The prestigious “Yamaha Asian Beats 2011” competition was held at the Kyra MP Theatre in Bangalore on August 27.<br /><br />After around 50 gigs through various venues in the country and abroad following their international debut, Girish performing as the 'guest' vocalist for Guwahati-based 'Silver Tears' competed at the zonal competition for the 'Yamaha Asian Beats' title which was held in Guwahati.<br /><br />He came first among participants from eight states. The top bands of each zone met at Bangalore’s Kyra MP theatre and Girish was declared the best vocalist in the All- India Finals. <br /><br />With this, he has qualified for the international rounds which are scheduled to be held in Seoul in South Korea on November 14.<br /><br />A Hong Kong-based company has signed a seven-year contract with the 24-year-old rocker from Sikkim to promote him in the rock circuits in Europe of which Montenegro Rock Festival is a part.<br /><br />When Girish leaves for Europe in mid-October, he will be the greatest rock export from Sikkim and for that matter the whole sub-continent, rock music followers said here.<br /><br />Girish started his journey way back in 1999 when he was a school student. He formed a band 'Anarchy' which used to perform in school festivals across the Northeast.<br /><br />His present band 'Girish n the Chronicles', which took off from 'Anarchy', comprises four members and has performed at IITs in Kharagpur, Delhi and some other places.</p>
