The film’s director and renowned Malayalam lyricist Kaithapram Damodaran Namboodiri said he had booked Asif for the film and the cricketer was to land in Kerala in a month’s time.
“After the new turn of events, I have decided not to take the risk. Besides, I was also looking for a person with high moral values to suit the character he was playing,” Kaithapram who has written several hit songs said.
The theme of the film revolves around a Pakistani cricketer finding his roots in the place where he had come to attend a coaching camp.
“I will try some other Pakistani cricketer and, if not, I will seek a Pakistani actor to do the central role in my film, for which shooting starts in the second week of October,” he added.
